EOC-2610 POE distance

Postby keenanj » Mon Nov 03, 2008 3:36 pm

Ken good question the EOC-2610 ships with a 24v poE injector that will give you a maximum distance of 300 feet between the injector and access point.

EOC-2610 antenna switch

Postby keenanj » Mon Nov 03, 2008 5:05 pm

Jacob, The EOC-2610 has a switch on the bottom you can see it on the page below.

http://keenansystems.com/engenius_eoc-2 ... _point.htm

position 1 the internal antenna is active
position 2 the external SMA connector is active and the internal disconnected

You could use either a omni or directional antenna with the unit

How does the external antenna connector work? When an antenna is connected, does it disconnect the internal antenna? The documentation says that the connector is for an omni. Could I use a directional antenna?

Thanks,
Jacob

Tim, The EOC-2610 has a dual panel antenna but it is not diversity only one connector for both.

I added a picture of the antenna pcb at the bottom of this page.

http://keenansystems.com/engenius_eoc-2 ... _point.htm

Does this have 2, 10 dbi antennas?

Love it!

I love the EOC-2610 and been using Engenius stuff for a long time. Now I need to use WDS like I do on the EOC-3220. Does the 2610 have WDS? There is one reference in the manual, but no corresponding menu on the device OS. Need to use it as a repeater... can it be done?

yes it does now

Now supports WDS repeater, Multi SSID, VLAN
tagging,108Mbps super G, narrowband and much more with firmware update

Fancy mounts?

Postby macsrwe » Sun Dec 21, 2008 9:16 pm

The product packaging shows an assortment of mounting arms for this unit, but I don't see them listed for sale at keenansystems or engeniustech. A standard J-bar is overkill because the 2610 is practically weightless, plus I have a lot of prospects in my territory with travel trailers and park-models that don't really provide a good bite for J bars and lag bolts. Where can I find out more about these mini-mounts?

The mounting package for the eoc-2610 is not available yet but remember the eoc -3220's include the mounting hardware this was part of the cost savings on the 2610

Mounting hardware

Postby macsrwe » Mon Dec 22, 2008 2:32 pm

Actually, the 3220s included a mounting adapter -- I still needed to supply and hang a J-bar for them, same as I do with the new unit. I'm trying to avoid that, for structures that aren't J-bar-compatible.

EOC-2610 - Reliable Distance

Postby shulgin » Thu Jan 08, 2009 11:55 am

Hello,

I want to make a connection between 2 locations 8miles apart.
There is good line of sight between the 2 points and it is out in the countryside so there should be no problems with interference.

I am wondering will the EOC-2610 do the job with the integrated antenna? I will only need 1MB connection.

What do you guys think?

Well to go anything over a couple of miles elevation comes into play to do 8 miles you are probily looking at 100 foot tower with full rf line of sight.

EOC-3610s + 20dBi or EOC-3220+ would also be my first choice but the EOC-2610 should also do the job.
